Please join us at LSLK on Friday, Oct 18, and Saturday, Oct 19, for a mini-retreat on Calm Abiding and the benefits of practices leading to deep Samādhi (Collectedness or Unification of Mind).
During the three sessions on Friday and Saturday, we will learn about the 40 objects of meditation prescribed by the Buddha in the discourses of the Pāli Canon. Of these 40 objects of meditation, we will discuss in detail six objects – Recollections of the Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha, Morality, Generosity, and the Wholesome Attributes of the Devas – and practice meditation based on three objects – Mindfulness of the Breath, Mindfulness of the Body, and Mettā (Lovingkindness).
Our immediate goals for the three sessions will be to 1) reach the calming experience of Access Concentration (upacara-samadhi, also called Neighborhood or Threshold Concentration), 2) explore the possibilities for a highly collected, unified mind to lead to more subtle experiences of joy, rapture, tranquility, happiness, and equanimity, and 3) realize just how uncomplicated all of these practices really are!
Teachings are open to everyone, regardless of background or experience.
There is no fee, but donations to LSLK are encouraged!
